Lady Garden Foundation 'Silent No More' Garden at RHS Chelsea 2026

Lady Garden Foundation 'Silent No More' Garden

About this garden

Designed to spark curiosity and open uninhibited conversations about gynaecological health, this multi-layered garden aims to break down stigma and ignite dialogue around the five gynaecological cancers: cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal and vulval. The garden's layout is directly inspired by an etching by 20th-century Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida — and its central structure echoes his ceramic forms, providing a safe and enveloping space where sunlight and shade shift throughout the day.

A winding path leads visitors through richly planted borders where five distinct sculptures — each representing one of the five gynaecological cancers — punctuate the planting. From a central pool, water flows gently through five deep rills, guiding the journey from intimate nooks with secluded seating into a communal space where open conversation is invited and encouraged. The contrasting environments are intentional: the garden is designed to break silence, foster connection and ultimately help save lives.

The structures at the centre of the garden were handcrafted by Cornwall-based Ruddy Joinery in collaboration with Hawkes, ensuring every element is artisan-made rather than manufactured. Planting transitions from soft greys, pinks and blues into bold, vibrant tones — reflecting the Lady Garden Foundation's fearless spirit. Built for long-term sustainability using low-treatment materials and reusable Cornish slate paths, nearly all elements will be reinstated when the garden is relocated to Jersey after the show.
