Nepeta 'Romany Dusk' sits within the Nepeta genus (family Lamiaceae), a group of herbaceous perennials and occasional annuals native to Europe, Asia and Africa. Members of the genus commonly carry aromatic, opposite leaves and clusters of tubular flowers borne towards the tips of stems; this cultivar follows that pattern while extending the reliable summer display. Locate Nepeta 'Romany Dusk' where its foliage and flower spikes can be seen and smelled. The plant tolerates a range of soils provided they drain, and a sunny to partly shaded spot will encourage the best flowering. After the first flush of bloom, trim back the flowering stems to tidy the plant and encourage a later, lighter re-bloom; if older plants start to open in the centre, lift and divide in spring to restore vigour. Use Nepeta 'Romany Dusk' at the front of herbaceous borders, in gravel beds or in containers where its foliage and flowers can soften paving edges and attract pollinators.
