Lilium 'Halloween' (Ia/-) is a bulbous, herbaceous lily cultivar that produces the large, prominent flowers typical of the genus Lilium. It arises from a scaly underground bulb and falls within the genus height range of about 30–180 cm. In the UK it flowers from June to August on upright stems. True lilies, including this cultivar, are highly toxic to cats and must be kept well away from pets.

As a member of the genus Lilium, Lilium 'Halloween' (Ia/-) shares the group’s basic biology: it grows from a scaly, tunicless bulb and sends up a single or multi-flowered stem in summer. The genus is native across temperate parts of the Northern Hemisphere and into subtropical regions, and its species are known for relatively tall growth and conspicuous flowers. Expect summer display from June to August in UK gardens. Plant bulbs so that they sit at a depth typical for lilies, where the bulb can remain cool and the emerging stem can produce the adventitious stem-roots that many species form. Taller stems within the genus often benefit from a sheltered position or discreet support to prevent flopping in wind or rain. Because bulbs are the perennial organs, avoid disturbing them once established. Use Lilium 'Halloween' where upright, summer-flowering stems are wanted — at the back of a mixed border or in a location where tall flowers can be seen from a path. Be cautious with placement if you have pets: true lilies are highly toxic to cats, and even small exposures can be dangerous, so keep flowering stems and bulb material out of reach of animals.
