About
Lilium 'Gracia' is a bulbous lily in the family Liliaceae, bearing the large, prominent flowers characteristic of the genus. It flowers in the UK from June to August. The plant arises from a scaly underground bulb and falls within the genus height range of about 30–180 cm. As with all true lilies, it is highly toxic to cats and should be kept well away from pets.

Lilium 'Gracia' belongs to the genus Lilium (family Liliaceae), a group of herbaceous perennials that grow from scaly, tunicless bulbs and produce sizeable, showy blooms. The genus is native across the Northern Hemisphere in temperate to subtropical regions; this cultivar shares those seasonal habits and will flower in the UK from June to August. Many lilies put out adventitious stem-roots as they emerge, reflecting the genus’ bulb and root behaviour. Plant the bulb at a depth consistent with other serious lilies so that the crown sits below the soil line; most Lilium species naturally form bulbs buried well beneath the surface. Allow room for a tall flowering stem: lilies in this genus typically range from about 30 to 180 cm, so position Lilium 'Gracia' towards the middle or rear of a border where it can be seen without shading lower neighbours. Good drainage is important for bulbs that overwinter below ground, and planting where stems are supported or can be staked prevents flopping of tall stems. Take care around animals: true lilies are highly toxic to cats. Place bulbs and cut stems out of reach, and dispose of any spent flowers or bulb fragments securely rather than leaving them where pets might investigate.
