Jacobaea is a genus of flowering plants in the tribe Senecioneae and the family Asteraceae. Its members used to be placed in the genus Senecio, but have been separated into the segregate genus Jacobaea on the basis of molecular phylogenetics in order to maintain genera that are monophyletic.

Jacobaea erucifolia is an upright annual-biennial in the aster family, native across much of temperate Eurasia from western Europe to East Asia. Plants produce pinnate, lobed foliage and a summer flowering run from June to September, which is why it appears in lists for wildlife gardens and meadow mixes. For cultivation choose a south-facing, sheltered site in loam of neutral pH with good drainage. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil; avoid heavy, waterlogged ground. Rated H5 (hardy), it will withstand ordinary UK winter conditions when given a protected aspect. Use it in wildlife gardens, naturalistic planting schemes and meadow rotations where an upright form and lobed leaves blend with grasses and other perennials.
