As a member of the Asteraceae it produces daisy-like flower heads over an extended season, making it a useful summer-to-early-autumn contributor to mixed planting schemes. Plant into a sunny, south-, west- or east-facing position on loam or sandy soil that drains freely yet retains some moisture; it tolerates acid, neutral and alkaline soils. In UK terms the H5 rating means Coreopsis is hardy outdoors through ordinary winter conditions, and it can be grown in exposed seaside sites as well as more sheltered city courtyards.
