Helen Elks-Smith creates gardens that are both beautiful and functional, operating across London, the Home Counties and the West Country from a base in Dorset. The studio's guiding principle — that gardens are for people — drives every design decision, with spaces conceived to draw inhabitants outside and reward daily use. The practice has a strong regional following and is known for considered transitions between indoor and outdoor space, careful attention to levels and shelter, and planting that performs across every season rather than peaking in a single month.
