A subspecies of V. sitchensis from western North America, forming a clump-forming, erect herbaceous perennial to about 1m tall with pinnate, dark green leaves and compact, rounded clusters of small, pale pink or white flowers in summer. An uncommon species for moist, fertile conditions in a woodland garden or wildflower border.
