Goldilocks buttercup (Ranunculus auricomus agg.), sometimes also called Greenland buttercup, is a diverse group of species from the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae) native to Eurasia. It is an important model group in evolutionary biology, which is of great significance for research into the origins of apomixis, polyploidy, and speciation. Species are perennial and typically found in moist woods, at the margins of woods and waysides, and swamp meadows. In the garden it prefers full sun and loam and sand soil. In UK gardens it is hardy through an average UK winter (RHS H4). Suggested uses include city and courtyard gardens and mediterranean climate plants. It tolerates soil of any pH, well-drained conditions and south-facing and west-facing aspects. Plant after last frost in fertile soil.
