Potentilla pensylvanica (P. pensylvanica) is a species of cinquefoil known by the common names Pennsylvania cinquefoil and prairie cinquefoil. In Shoshoni, it is known as Ku'-si-wañ-go-gǐp. It is native to much of northern and western North America, including most of Canada and the western half of the United States. P. pensylvanica grows in many types of habitat. Grow it in full sun and most soil types. In UK gardens it is very hardy across most of the UK (RHS H6). It works well for borders, low hedging and rock gardens. It tolerates soil of any pH, well-drained conditions and south-facing and west-facing aspects. Plant after last frost in fertile soil.
