Peperomia galioides is a species of plant in the family Piperaceae, native to Mexico, Central America and South America. P. galioides has petioles of less than 1mm long and leaves between 5-30mm. There has been research in Colombia and Peru to know about the essential oils of this species. It was traditionally used in Peruvian herbal medicine. Grow it in partial shade and loam soil. In UK gardens it needs subtropical warmth and glass protection in the UK (RHS H1b). It works well for houseplants, hanging basket and conservatory and greenhouse. It tolerates neutral soils, moist but well-drained conditions and east-facing, north-facing and west-facing aspects. Plant in gritty compost. Full sun.
