Myrsine africana, African boxwood, is a slow-growing, half-hardy, evergreen shrub to around 1.2 m with an upright habit and small, aromatic, glossy, dark-green leaves to 2 cm long. Clusters of tiny, yellow-brown flowers are borne in the leaf axils in late spring; on female plants, these are followed by small, pale-blue berries. An ornamental and compact evergreen for a sheltered, sunny garden.
