The cultivar is valued for its blossom and fruiting purpose rather than as a dessert apple; its spring flowering occurs in April to May and displays the five-petalled flowers commonly associated with apples, which may be white, pink or red. When siting this cultivar, give the blossom good access to pollinating insects: many Malus varieties require cross-pollination, so place it within reach of bees and near other apple varieties to improve fruit set. It suits orchard planting or larger gardens where a fruit tree can be given space and air movement around the crown.
