Overview

Grevillea juniperina is a bushy shrubs in the genus Grevillea, part of the Proteaceae family, with evergreen foliage. It typically grows around 1.5-2.5 metres tall and 1.5-2.5 metres wide, reaching full size in around 10-20 years. Grevillea juniperina grows best in full sun, and tolerates loam and sand soils and acid and neutral pH. It is drought resistant and low maintenance.

Grevillea juniperina, commonly known as juniper- or juniper-leaf grevillea or prickly spider-flower, is a plant of the family Proteaceae native to eastern New South Wales and southeastern Queensland in Australia. Scottish botanist Robert Brown described the species in 1810, and seven subspecies are recognised. One subspecies, G. j. juniperina, is restricted to Western Sydney and environs and is threatened by loss of habitat and housing development. A small, prickly-leaved shrub between 0.2–3 m (0.66–9.84 ft) high, G. juniperina generally grows on clay-based or alluvial soils in eucalypt woodland. Mature plants reach roughly 1.5-2.5 metres tall and 1.5-2.5 metres wide, carrying evergreen foliage. In the garden it prefers full sun and loam and sand soil. It tolerates acid and neutral soils, well-drained conditions and south-facing and west-facing aspects.
