Geum rossii is a species of flowering plant in the rose family known by the common names Ross' avens and alpine avens. It is native to North America where its distribution spans northern Canada and the high mountains of the western United States. It grows at high-latitude and high-elevation habitat, including the Arctic and in alpine climates. One, var. depressum, is endemic to Washington in the United States, where it is limited to the Wenatchee Mountains. Grow it in full sun and partial shade and most soil types. In UK gardens it is fully hardy throughout the UK (RHS H7). It works well for gravel, rock, beds and borders, cottage/informal and low maintenance. It tolerates soil of any pH, moist but well-drained, well-drained conditions and east, west and south aspects. Plant in well-drained soil in a suitable position. Water during establishment.
