Xylosma congesta, commonly known as shiny xylosma, is a species of flowering plant in the family Salicaceae, native to East Asia. Originally described in 1790 as Croton congestus, the species was later reassigned to Xylosma in 1919.

Xylosma japonica var. pubescens is a hardy H3 plant ideal for hedges and privacy screens, flowering in spring and summer with full sun or partial shade.
