Myricaria germanica, commonly known as false tamarisk or German tamarisk, is a deciduous shrub growing 2-3 metres tall. It thrives in full sun on a south-facing, sheltered aspect with well-drained, neutral loam soil. Hardy to UK zone H5, it is suitable for use as a specimen plant, informal hedge, or in coastal planting. Interest is mainly in spring and summer, and it requires watering during establishment. Propagation is by seed or semi-ripe cuttings.
