Guaiacum officinale, commonly known as lignum vitae, is an evergreen shrub or small tree belonging to the Zygophyllaceae family. It thrives in full sun on a south-facing, sheltered aspect with well-drained, neutral loam soil that remains dry. This cultivar is hardy to UK zone H5 and is best suited as a specimen plant, in conservatories, or botanical collections. It is of particular interest during spring and summer. Cultivation requires watering during establishment, and propagation can be achieved by seed or semi-ripe cuttings.
