Grindelia speciosa is a species in the genus Grindelia (family Asteraceae) notable for its composite flowerheads made up of many disc florets and variable ray florets. Flowering occurs from July to September. Members of the genus range in habit from herbaceous plants to subshrubs and can be annual, biennial or perennial. The foliage of Grindelia species is recorded as a food source for the larvae of some moths, including Schinia mortua.
