Eomecon chionantha is a robust, spreading perennial characterized by its heart- or kidney-shaped leaves, which can reach up to 10 cm in width and display a greyish-green hue. From late spring through mid-summer, its upright, branching stems produce airy clusters of glossy, white flowers resembling those of poppies, each measuring up to 5 cm across.

Eomecon consists of rhizomatous perennials characterized by their sizable heart, kidney, or arrow-shaped foliage and drooping flowers resembling those of poppies.
