Borinda grossa is a clump-forming bamboo that can reach about 10.0 m, forming a dense, multi-stemmed crown and remaining evergreen year-round. Native to the eastern Himalaya and Tibet, it gives a strong vertical presence in larger gardens. It flowers from July to September. The plant suits sheltered, south- or west-facing sites where it can develop without exposure to driving winds.
