In Great Britain, it is found in Cornwall, Wales and eastern Scotland. It is 1 metre (3 ft 3 in) high. In the garden it prefers full sun and loam soil. In UK gardens it is hardy in most of the UK (RHS H5). Suggested uses include city and courtyard gardens, coastal, cottage and informal garden, gravel garden, rock garden, banks and slopes and flower borders and beds. It tolerates neutral soils, well-drained conditions and south-facing, east-facing and west-facing aspects. Plant in well-drained soil in sun or partial shade.
