About

Gardenia jasminoides, the cape jasmine, is a large evergreen shrub with deep, glossy-green, elliptic leaves and broadly funnel-shaped, intensely fragrant white flowers to 8 cm across, produced through summer and into autumn. One of the most powerfully scented of all garden plants, making a superb conservatory or cool glasshouse shrub in cooler climates.

About the genus

Gardenia are bushy evergreen shrubs or trees with attractive, glossy leaves and large, fragrant, white, funnel- or bowl-shaped flowers with five to eleven lobes. Grown as ornamental specimen shrubs in frost-free gardens or as heated conservatory plants.
