Gaillardia suavis is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, common names pincushion daisy and perfumeballs. It is native to northern Mexico (Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas) and the southern Great Plains of the United States (Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas). Gaillardia suavis grows in limestone or sandy soils in prairies, desert scrub, or open juniper woodlands. It is a perennial herb up to 80 cm (31 in) tall, with leaves crowded around the base rather than borne on the stem. Grow it in full sun and loam and sand soil. In UK gardens it is hardy in most of the UK (RHS H5). It works well for city and courtyard gardens, coastal, cottage and informal garden, patio and container plants, wildlife gardens, cut flowers and flower borders and beds. It tolerates soil of any pH, well-drained conditions and south-facing and west-facing aspects.

Gaillardia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, native to North and South America. It was named after Maître Gaillard de Charentonneau, an 18th-century French magistrate who was an enthusiastic botanist. The common name may refer to the resemblance of the inflorescence to the brightly patterned blankets made by Native Americans, or to the ability of wild taxa to blanket the ground with colonies.
