Daboecia cantabrica, St Dabeoc's heath, is a dwarf, evergreen shrub with small, leathery, dark-green leaves, paler beneath, and terminal racemes of large, nodding, urn-shaped flowers in pink-purple, white or bicoloured from early summer to autumn. One of the most free-flowering of all heaths, native to western Europe including Ireland, and excellent for a heather garden or well-drained, acid border.
