Cyphostemma currorii is a succulent tree belonging to the family Vitaceae, also known as Koba or Butter-tree. They grow and reach a height of 6 meters or more. Cyphostemma currorii is found in hot, arid rocky places, and has been seen from southern Angola to Namibia and is common on the Brandberg. In the wild it grows across Angola, Namibia and SW-Angola; Namibia. Grow it in full sun and loam and sand soil. In UK gardens it needs tropical warmth and glass protection in the UK (RHS H1a). It works well for rock garden, patio and container plants and flower borders and beds. It tolerates soil of any pH, well-drained conditions and south-facing and west-facing aspects. Plant in well-drained soil in a suitable position. Water during establishment.

About the genus

Cyphostemma is a flowering plant genus in the family Vitaceae, with around 250 species distributed throughout the tropics and subtropics. These species are caudiciform and used to belong to the genus Cissus. The genus name comes from Greek kyphos, meaning hump, and stemma, meaning garland.
