About

Coelogyne miniata is a species of epiphytic or lithophytic orchid in the genus Coelogyne, native to the western Malesian islands of Sumatra, Java, Bali and the Lesser Sunda Islands. It is a small, straggling, creeping plant, distinguished within its mostly white- or cream-flowered genus by unusually vivid orange-red flowers, and it is the type species of Coelogyne section Hologyne. In the garden it prefers partial shade and loam and sand soil. In UK gardens it needs tropical warmth and glass protection in the UK (RHS H1a). Suggested uses include houseplants and conservatory and greenhouse. It tolerates neutral soils, moist but well-drained conditions and east-facing and west-facing aspects. Plant at appropriate depth in well-drained soil.
