It tolerates soil of any pH, moist but well-drained conditions and north-facing, south-facing, east-facing and west-facing aspects. Plant in moisture-retentive, well-drained soil, with the roots and base of the plant kept cool and shaded by other planting or a layer of pebbles. Grow in full sun or partial shade.
