Aruncus sylvester, the goat's beard, is a species of flowering plant in the family Rosaceae, found from the Himalayas to the Russian Far East and Japan. As its synonym Aruncus aethusifolius it has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. In the wild it grows across NO. Grow it in full sun and partial shade and clay and loam soil. In UK gardens it is very hardy across most of the UK (RHS H6). It works well for cottage and informal garden, wildflower meadow and flower borders and beds. It tolerates soil of any pH, moist but well-drained conditions and east-facing, south-facing and west-facing aspects. Plant in well-drained soil in a suitable position. Water during establishment.
