Overview

Aloe pluridens is a clump forming cactus succulent in the genus Aloe, part of the Asphodelaceae family, with evergreen foliage. Aloe pluridens grows best in full sun, and tolerates loam soils and any pH. Its UK hardiness is rated H1C. Suggested uses include houseplants and sub-tropical.

The inflorescence is up to 4 - branched with erect, rather lax, conical racemes of 25 - 30 cm long. Flowers are salmon-pink to orange to dull scarlet or yellow and 40 - 45 mm long. Note though that the flowers of A. pluridens never take on the bright scarlet colour of some forms of A. arborescens. This species has a disjunct distribution range. Grow it in full sun and loam soil. In UK gardens it needs a warm, frost-free position in the UK (RHS H1c). It works well for houseplants and sub-tropical. It tolerates soil of any pH, well-drained conditions and south-facing and west-facing aspects. Plant in well-drained soil in sun or partial shade.
