Aeschynanthus fulgens is an Asian species of plants in the family Gesneriaceae and tribe Trichosporeae, with no subspecies listed in the Catalogue of Life. A common name for this and similar species in the genus is "lipstick vine"; its name in Vietnamese is má dào Everard. The plant is a trailing epiphyte, with orange-red flowers approximately 70 mm long and slightly pubescent. It is native to Southern Asia, Assam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaya and other regions. In the garden it prefers partial shade and loam soil. In UK gardens it needs tropical warmth and glass protection in the UK (RHS H1a). Suggested uses include houseplants and conservatory and greenhouse. It tolerates soil of any pH, moist but well-drained conditions and east-facing and west-facing aspects.
