Aechmea blumenavii is a plant species in the genus Aechmea. This species is endemic to the state of Santa Catarina, in Brazil. It is endangered and classified as rare by the IUCN. Two varieties have been named, although var. alba has only been collected once: Aechmea blumenavii var. blumenavii Aechmea blumenavii var. alba. In the garden it prefers partial shade and loam soil. In UK gardens it is tender and needs frost-free protection over winter (RHS H2). Suggested uses include houseplant. It tolerates neutral soils, moderate conditions and east-facing and west-facing aspects. Plant in well-drained soil in a suitable position. Water during establishment.
