Actaea pachypoda, the white baneberry or doll's-eyes, is a species of flowering plant in the genus Actaea, of the family Ranunculaceae. The plant is native to eastern North America, in eastern Canada, and the Midwestern and Eastern United States. It requires organically rich, humusy soil with excellent drainage, and is found in hardwood and mixed forest stands. Mature plants reach roughly 0.5-1 metres tall and 0.1-0.5 metres wide, carrying deciduous foliage. In the garden it prefers partial shade and clay and loam soil. It tolerates soil of any pH, moist but well-drained, poorly-drained conditions and north-facing, west-facing and east-facing aspects.
