Acer maximowiczii is an Asian species of maple. It has been found only in China (Gansu, Guangxi, Guizhou, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Sichuan). Acer maximowiczii is a tree up to 12 meters tall, with dark brown bark. Leaves are non-compound, thin and papery, up to 11 cm wide and 9 cm across, with 5 lobes and double teeth. In the wild it grows across China North-Central, China South-Central, China Southeast and Qinghai. Grow it in full sun and partial shade and most soil types. In UK gardens it is very hardy across most of the UK (RHS H6). It works well for architectural. It tolerates soil of any pH, moist but well-drained, well-drained conditions and south-facing, north-facing, west-facing and east-facing aspects.
