Acer erianthum is an Asian species of maple. It has been found only in China (Gansu, Guangxi, Hubei, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan). Acer erianthum is a tree up to 15 meters tall with greenish-gray bark. Leaves are non-compound, thin and papery, usually with 5 long tapering lobes but occasionally 7. It is native to China North-Central, China South-Central and China Southeast. In the garden it prefers full sun and partial shade and most soil types. In UK gardens it is very hardy across most of the UK (RHS H6). Suggested uses include architectural. It tolerates soil of any pH, moist but well-drained, well-drained conditions and south-facing, north-facing, west-facing and east-facing aspects.
