Sam Ovens
About
A West Country designer producing large coastal gardens and ambitious ecological restoration, including a 230-acre Cornish estate transformation.
Best known for producing large coastal gardens in the West Country, Sam Ovens combines a minimalist approach with a passion for environmentally sustainable design. Among current projects is the transformation of a 230-acre, intensively farmed Cornish estate, which involves creating woodland, pasture and wildflower meadows alongside hedgerow restoration — one of the most ambitious ecological restoration projects currently under way in British garden design. The studio's minimalism is grounded in ecological logic rather than aesthetic affectation, treating restraint as the design discipline of knowing when to step back and allow landscape processes to take over.
