Acres Wild

About

A West Sussex practice known for large country gardens that feel rooted in their landscape from the moment they are made.

Established in West Sussex in 1988, Acres Wild is the practice of Debbie Roberts and Ian Smith, specialising in the design and masterplanning of large country gardens where house, garden and landscape are conceived as a single composition. Three-times winners of the SGD 'Large Residential Garden' Award, the studio works across Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Hampshire, the Channel Islands and further afield. Their approach is grounded in a careful reading of scale, proportion and place, with planting that responds to its setting rather than imposing on it. The result is gardens that appear to have grown from the land rather than been laid upon it.
