This genus consists of five species of deciduous or semi-evergreen trees found primarily in southeastern Asia and southwestern China. The trees feature dark green, oval to oblong leaves and produce fragrant, cup-shaped flowers that hang downwards, blooming in creamy-white before the leaves emerge in spring. Following the flowering period, ribbed red fruits develop.

Rehderodendron

Rehderodendron indochinense is a semi-evergreen tree that can reach heights of up to 13 meters. Its red-brown branchlets support oval to elliptic leaves that can grow as long as 10 centimeters. In spring, the tree produces clusters of white, bell-shaped flowers, which are succeeded by cylindrical, ribbed fruits that hang down and measure up to 11 centimeters in length, featuring small brown spots and a reddish-brown hue.

Rehderodendron indochinense

Rehderodendron kwangtungense is a semi-evergreen tree that can reach heights of up to 15 meters. Its leaves are elliptical to oblong in shape, measuring as long as 16 centimeters. During the spring, it produces clusters of white flowers, typically arranged in racemes of 6 to 8 blooms, which can extend up to 7 centimeters. These flowers give way to cylindrical, woody fruits that are brown and ribbed, reaching lengths of up to 8 centimeters.
