A species Zygopetalum orchid from South America, bearing erect stems of fragrant, waxy, long-lasting flowers with green, brown-blotched petals and sepals and a broad, spreading, white lip with bold purple veining, borne in autumn and winter. An elegant and reliable species for a cool to intermediate glasshouse or bright, humid windowsill.

About the genus

Zygopetalum consists of around 14 species of orchid, native to the humid forests of South America and Brazil. They are known for their scented, waxy flowers. These long-lived blooms can be patterned in hues of green, purple, burgundy and raspberry.
