A vigorous, twining, deciduous climber to about 4m from western North America with paired, blue-green leaves, the uppermost fused around the stem, and clusters of brilliant, orange-red, tubular flowers in early summer, followed by small, orange-red berries. A showy native honeysuckle for a sunny or partly shaded fence or trellis.
