A stout, trunk-forming, evergreen Yucca to about 3m tall from Mexico with rigid, sharply-pointed, blue-grey leaves forming bold rosettes along a branching trunk, and tall, upright panicles of large, pendant, creamy-white flowers in summer. An imposing and dramatic architectural plant for a warm, dry, frost-free position.

Zamia includes herbaceous and sometimes woody species grown for their ornamental merit. The genus is represented in gardens by selected species and cultivars suited to a range of growing conditions
