A compact, leafy, succulent perennial from the Arabian Peninsula (Oman and Yemen) with deeply ridged, tuberculate, green stems bearing rows of small, star-shaped, deep maroon-purple flowers with a wrinkled (rhytido-) texture in summer. A rare and unusual succulent for a warm, very sunny, dry glasshouse or desert garden.
