About

A large, evergreen shrub or small tree to about 6m tall from tropical Africa, with broadly ovate, mid-green leaves and clusters of small, white, tubular flowers, followed by edible, sweet-acidic, apple-like fruits known as Spanish tamarind or vangueria. Grown as a fruit tree in tropical gardens and as a botanical curiosity in warm glasshouses.
