A spreading, deciduous, rounded tree about 12m tall, with dense foliage, the coarsely-toothed, dark green leaves to 9cm long, are covered beneath in a silvery wooly down, turning golden in autumn. aromatic, pale yellow flowers in pendent clusters of up to 1-15 flowers are produced in early summer.
