A compact, tufted, deciduous perennial from the Rocky Mountains (alpine lungwort) to about 25cm tall with broadly ovate, rough, grey-green, hairy leaves and short, drooping clusters of tubular, clear, deep blue bell-shaped flowers in late spring and early summer. A choice and ornamental alpine lungwort for cool, moist, well-drained conditions in a rock garden.
