A large, epiphytic orchid from Ecuador with ribbed, ovoid pseudobulbs and large, broadly ovate, pleated leaves, producing pendant racemes of large, complex, strongly fragrant, waxy, cream-yellow and orange flowers with elaborate lips in summer. A spectacular but short-lived-flowered orchid for warm, humid glasshouse conditions, named after botanist Embree.
