A large, evergreen shrub to about 2m tall from the coastal scrublands of Gibraltar and southern Spain with broadly ovate, leathery, blue-green leaves and dense, flat-topped clusters of small, yellow-green, bract-framed flowers in late spring and summer. A bold-foliaged and unusual Mediterranean evergreen for a warm, sheltered, well-drained border in a mild garden.
