About

A hybrid between Rhododendron catawbiense and another species, producing a vigorous, broadly domed, evergreen shrub with large, glossy, dark green leaves and dense trusses of funnel-shaped flowers in spring, combining R. catawbiense's excellent cold-hardiness with improved flower colour or form from the other parent.

About the genus

Rhododendron can be evergreen or deciduous shrubs or trees, with simple leaves, sometimes with a dense colourful indumentum of hairs on the lower side, and funnel-shaped, bell-shaped or tubular flowers that may be solitary or in short racemes
