About

A primary hybrid between R. calophytum and R. pachytrichum, producing a medium to large-sized evergreen shrub combining the bold, long-leaved elegance of calophytum with the rufous-indumentum foliage of pachytrichum. Large trusses of funnel-bell-shaped white or pale pink flowers appear in early spring, suited to a sheltered, cool woodland garden.

About the genus

Rhododendron can be evergreen or deciduous shrubs or trees, with simple leaves, sometimes with a dense colourful indumentum of hairs on the lower side, and funnel-shaped, bell-shaped or tubular flowers that may be solitary or in short racemes
