A rosette-forming, monocarpic perennial or subshrub to about 1m tall from Tenerife with broadly oblong, coarsely hairy, mid-green leaves in a basal rosette and a tall, dense, cylindrical spike of brilliant blue to purple, tubular flowers in summer. An eye-catching plant for a very warm, sunny, very well-drained border or large container.
